WHO ARE WE?
Lil Chef Institute is Winnipeg’s first cooking school made exclusively for kids. We teach kids about food and cooking in a welcoming and gentle environment.

We focus on teaching kids practical life skills such as basic fire safety and safe use of kitchen equipment, building a foundation that will serve them for a lifetime.

Kids learn more than just cooking - they also develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, critical thinking and time management. Our lessons also integrate key skills like math and science, reinforcing concepts learned in school.

We focus on teaching kids the knowledge and skills to understand where food comes from, how it's prepared, and how to make healthier choices.

We offer a hands-on, non-threatening way for kids to explore different flavours and textures at their own pace.

We help kids tune into their hunger cues and make mindful choices in a non-judgemental way, creating a lifelong healthy relationship with food.

Our son Jacob (3) has been loving his classes with Lil Chef Institute! It’s been a great way to introduce new foods and recipes into his life. The instructors are SO great at interacting with our son. They teach him the skills and gives him the confidence he needs to be able to help in preparing almost every element of the dish! Jacob has SO much fun cooking with Lil Chef Institute and always looks forward to the classes.

The instructor was lovely with children and was very patient with the right amount of seriousness. I love the part where they got to try new foods in a flexible way. She would never try mushrooms at home, but in this setting, she was more open and willing to learn.
The biggest thing I left with was that I don’t give my 4-year-old enough credit. Watching her excel in this class made me realize that she is capable of more than I give her credit for.

My granddaughter Mya (10) has been taking classes with Lil Chef Institute for over a year now, and she absolutely loves it. She comes home raving about all the different recipes she learned to make. She has even been helping make dinner at home a few times a week! It’s been incredible to watch her confidence grow in the kitchen.
